Aerloom — Pleated Linen Sheers

Your window
is doing
too much.

Hard light. Bare glass. That flat 3pm glare that makes a good room look like an office.

Aerloom hangs in true pinch pleats and turns all of it into something soft enough to sit in.

Woven flax linen · Hand-set pleats · Weighted hem

01 — The drape

Linen falls.
Polyester hangs.

You can see it in half a second. Cheap sheers stand slightly off the wall, catch static, and hold a plastic sheen no amount of steaming fixes.

Aerloom is cut long, weighted at the hem and pleated at the header — so it drops in a straight column and stays there.

Why Aerloom

Four things
a cheap sheer
can't fake.

Light filtered, not killed

Open-weave flax scatters direct sun into a warm, even wash. The room stays bright — it just stops glaring at you.

Pleats that hold shape

A stiffened header band keeps every fold where it was sewn — after opening, closing and a wash. No flattening by month two.

A hem that stops the float

Sewn-in hem weight means the panel doesn't billow at every draft or wrap itself around a radiator. It hangs plumb.

Daytime privacy, no cave

Dense enough to blur the view in, open enough to keep the view out. The street becomes texture, not an audience.

Real room · No filter
02 — The 4pm test

Watch what
happens to
the shadows.

Same window, same afternoon. The light stops cutting across the floor in a hard stripe and starts sitting in the room evenly.

It's the difference between a room you photograph and a room you actually stay in.

03 — The header

Pleats are
hand-set, not
printed on.

Most "pleated" sheers are a flat panel with gathered tape stapled to the top. Looks right in a listing photo, collapses the day it's hung.

Aerloom's folds are sewn into a stiffened band, spaced evenly across the width and pressed to hold. Hooks slide straight onto a track or rings.

04 — Hanging it

Up in ten
minutes.
Alone.

Hooks in, panel on, done. No sewing, no hemming service, no second person holding a ladder.

Hang it slightly high and slightly wide of the frame — the window reads taller and the pleats get room to stack when open.

05 — The weave, close

Slubs are
the point.

Real flax spins uneven. Those faint thicker threads catch light at different depths and give linen its quiet movement.

A perfectly uniform sheer is a synthetic one. This isn't a flaw list — it's why the fabric looks alive on the wall.

Before you ask

The honest
answers.

Linen creases — that's the material, not a defect, and it's why it looks expensive instead of plastic. Hung vertically, gravity pulls most fold lines out within a few days; a steamer on the header handles the rest in two minutes. Want board-flat forever? That's polyester, and you get polyester's shine with it.
Be clear-eyed: sheers are a daytime privacy fabric. In daylight they blur the view in while you keep the view out. After dark with interior lights on, silhouettes are visible from outside — true of every sheer ever made. Street-facing window? Layer Aerloom over a blind and use the sheer as your daytime setting.
Orders are picked and dispatched within 1–2 business days, with standard delivery typically landing in 5–8 business days. Tracking is emailed the moment the parcel leaves the warehouse. If a panel arrives damaged or the wrong size ships, we replace it — you don't pay twice for our mistake.
Yes, if you don't cook them. Cold gentle cycle, mild detergent, no bleach, no softener, no tumble dryer. Hang the panel straight back on the track damp and let it dry in place — the weight of the fabric re-sets the folds for you. Hot-tumble it and you'll shrink the linen and flatten the band. Washed correctly, these get softer every year.
Flax is one of the more sun-durable natural fibres, which is why linen has hung at windows for centuries. Expect a gradual mellowing of tone over years of direct exposure rather than the brittle yellowing cheap voile does in one hot summer.
Measure from the top of your hook — not the rod — to the floor before ordering, and add nothing; these are cut to hang, not to puddle. If it doesn't work in your room, contact support within the returns window with the panel unwashed and unaltered for a return or exchange.

06 — The room, after

One change.
Whole room
reads new.

No repaint. No new sofa. Just the hardest surface in the room — bare glass — finally softened.

The cheapest structural change you can make to a space, and the one people notice first without knowing why.

My west-facing room is finally usable

I couldn't sit on that side between four and six. It was just glare. These went up and the light is still there, it's only spread out now. My husband walked in and asked if I'd repainted.

The pleats are real pleats

Two other "pleated" sheers before this were flat panels with tape on top that gathered into a mess. These have sewn folds and a stiff band behind them. Four months of daily opening and they still stack the same.

The weighted hem is the detail

Balcony door is open most of the year and my old sheers wrapped around the handle constantly. These move with the air then fall straight back down. Small thing, enormous difference.

Gorgeous, but steam the header

Arrived with fold lines from packaging, as expected with linen. Two days hanging and most dropped out, ten seconds of steam sorted the rest. Four stars only because the care card should say that louder.

Ground floor, street facing

Daytime privacy is exactly as described — people passing can't make anything out but I still see the trees. At night I close the blind behind it, which the page told me to expect. Appreciated the honesty.

Washed them, panicked, then relaxed

Cold cycle, hung straight back up damp like the instructions say. Dried flat and the pleats reset themselves. They came out softer than they went in.

Hung both panels in fifteen minutes

Hooks were already spaced correctly along the header, so it was just clipping onto the track. No tools, no swearing, no second person.

The colour is warm, not grey

Every sheer I ordered before photographed warm and arrived cold and blueish against my walls. This one is genuinely a soft flax tone. It sits with oak and cream instead of fighting them.

Bought for the nursery

Softens the morning sun without making the room dark, which is what I wanted for naps. No plastic smell out of the packaging either, which was my main worry ordering fabric online.

Wanted a touch more length

Entirely my error — I measured from the rod rather than the top of the hook. They hang about two centimetres off the floor. Still look excellent, but measure properly.

Arrived faster than quoted

Shipped next day with tracking that actually updated, and landed well inside the window they gave. Packaging was flat and minimal.

Second set, different room

The first pair has been up over a year in full southern sun and the tone has barely shifted. That was enough evidence to do the bedroom too.

The window is
the first thing
anyone sees.

Hard glass, or filtered light. A ten-minute decision that changes the room for years.
